City of Solana Beach Heritage Museum

Join us as we clean the inside and prune shrubs on the outside
Sunday, 02/24/2019, 09:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Solana Beach Heritage Museum
715 Valley Avenue
Solana Beach, CA 92075

IF IT RAINS ON COMMUNITY SERVE DAY, this project will still take place!

The Solana Beach Civic and Historical Society, which maintains the Museum content on behalf of the City, annually gives Solana Beach third graders a hands-on history lesson inside the Museum. The students learn about the history of the region and Solana Beach, and have an opportunity to see and touch household items used in the 1900’a (before electricity) and then in the 1930’s (after electricity became available).

The oldest home in Solana Beach, the Molly Glen Ranch House, later became the Stevens House.  When the Stevens House was moved to La Colonia in 1988 it became the current Solana Beach Heritage Museum.

We will be cleaning the museum, including: dusting, windows, vacuuming, and mopping floors. We will also be pruning the coastal rosemary in front and the climbing vine over the porch.

Minimum age is 12.

Dress for a morning of indoor cleaning and outside pruning – your Community Serve Day T-shirt, pants/shirts that you can get dirty and comfortable, closed-toe shoes. Don't forget to bring some water and sunscreen!

If you have buckets, rags, a mop, any preferred cleaning supplies, and pruning shears, please bring them to use and share for the day.
